Gerbera growth model

The Gerbera Growth Model is a detailed crop model that calculates the growth and development of gerbera plants. This model is linked to a greenhouse climate model, allowing the effect of climate on the crop to be calculated. A user-friendly interface allows gerbera growers to work with this tool themselves and create scenarios for climate strategies. In doing so, the system takes into account farm-specific characteristics and historical climate data. For example, growers can develop scenarios for lighting, energy use and production peaks around Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day, among others.

Monthly, users meet via a video call to discuss scenarios and exchange knowledge. Thus, the model acts not only as a decision support tool, but also as a platform for knowledge transfer.

FloriConsult provides day-to-day support in the use of the model, while B-Mex is responsible for maintenance and ongoing development of the tool. B-Mex also provides second-line support.
