B-Mex specializes in providing practical access to computational models for Greenhouse Horticulture. Existing and new models are made available via the Internet in a modern, innovative way. Rapid developments in greenhouse farming have made horticulture more complicated. It is no longer just about good crop management; energy management, trading and marketing planning are also increasingly important.
Building computational models is a clever way to link scientific knowledge to actual data from companies. This creates a valuable tool that gives growers “on-the-job” insight into the state of the crop, expected harvest and climate and crop management options for the coming weeks.
The CO2 Optimal tool calculates the optimal CO2 dosage for greenhouse farms, taking into account crop type, greenhouse conditions, outdoor conditions and grower goals. A greenhouse climate model analyzes all CO2 flows, while a photosynthesis model calculates the effect of CO2 on the crop.
B-Mex maintains and develops the NDICEA model, together with the Louis Bolk Institute and Van der Burgt Agrarische Diensten. NDICEA is a nitrogen and carbon planner that helps growers fertilise precisely and to their specific needs, both in the short and the long term.
B-Mex has developed a data-driven harvest and growth inhibition prediction system for kalanchoe cultivation. For each batch, the system predicts how much the plants will stretch, whether or not growth should be inhibited, and when the plants will be ready for harvest. This allows growers to focus more specifically on quality and scheduling, and to apply growth regulators at exactly the right time.
With our expertise, we make these models practical. Growers can simulate and predict what will happen to their crops, such as harvest in six weeks, flower weight, or the effect of crop decisions.
For example, our models show what happens when you leave lights on longer, adjust the temperature, or fertilize and irrigate more or less. Together with our customers, we make cultivation knowledge applicable for more sustainable agriculture and horticulture.
