CO2 Optimal

The CO2 Optimal tool calculates the optimal CO2 dosage for greenhouses, taking into account crop type, greenhouse conditions, outdoor conditions and goals of the grower. A greenhouse climate model analyzes all CO2 flows, while a photosynthesis model calculates the effect of CO2 on the crop. The grower enters costs and production prices into the system, after which the system searches for the optimal CO2 dosage given the cost and product prices per period. The optimization solution is different every hour and is highly dependent on greenhouse climate and outdoor conditions. Therefore, in 2024 the tool was made autonomous so that it can control the CO2 dosage directly through the climate computer. This will be further tested in 2025.

The tool helps growers find the best strategy based on numbers and is also used by consultants for advice on day-to-day steering and investment decisions, such as weighting theCO2 connection. OCAP provides the tool, while B-Mex is responsible for its development, maintenance and second-line support.
